My comeback is thrilling, says Simran

The lady is on a comeback trail and how! After her return to Kollywood, Simran has signed on the dotted line for four Tamil movies and her TV show Simran Thirai is also on air.
Pepsico has made her the South Indian counterpart of Juhi Chawla in their TVCs for Fritolays recently. And the hottest news is that Simran is to feature in the Cadilla sugar-free ads in the South, as the counterpart of Bipasha Basu (in the North). But controversies continue to dog her and whispers that she is too choosy and demanding, continue to resound in Kollywood. So what does Simran have to say to silence her critics and about the way her career is shaping up post marriage?
‘I am selective’
Is it true that Simran is very demanding and choosy? Simran lists the current films on hand. “I am in Vaaranam Ayiram, TN 07 AL 4777, Ayindham Padai and Seval. If I was choosy and demanding as people claim, do you think they would have signed me on?” she asks.
She continues, “I am selective about the roles I want to play. All the directors I am working with today are committed, talented and work in such detail that it has made my comeback a thrilling experience,” she says.
Team work
Simran is all praise for the teams she is working with. “It’s easy to work with people of your mindset. Gautham’s Vaaranam Aayiram team is so full of ideas that it’s a pleasure going to the sets each day. That’s because the captain himself is so good. I am very comfortable working with him.”
She continues, “Hari is quick and particular about everything on the sets of Seval. He has a very good team of people.” About debut director Lakshmikanthan, her director in TN O7 AL 4777, “He is Jeeva sir’s assistant and is highly creative.” She has just completed a 10-day schedule in Pollachi for her latest film Ayindham Padai, “The team has a fresh vision, has done great publicity stills, works very fast and is committed to quality.”
Big banners, good directors, varied roles
Simran today is working with major banners, good directors and in exciting roles. She seems to have it all. In TN…47777 she plays Pasupathy’s wife. “I am in few scenes only but I am very noticeable” she reveals.
In Seval, she is Bharath’s sister-in-law, “My role is a pivotal one and only a seasoned actor could have played it.” In Vaaranam she plays the wife of Suriya from his youth right upto his old age in a plum, performance oriented role opposite a good co-actor.
In Ayindham Padhai, “It’s a wonderful character, though a bit negative, opposite Sundar C. It’s a bit similar to Paarthen Rasithen.”
Myths and facts
Though people initially discouraged saying that television meant over exposure, Simran felt differently about her serial Simran Thirai.
“I get letters saying people have liked the new, trendsetting programme. I play 12 characters in 12 stories in 12 months. It’s like slow poison and is slowly making its presence felt amongst TV audiences,” she laughs.
She dismisses rumours that she didn’t want to act opposite Pasupathy. “He is a wonderful actor. I don’t know why people are spreading false rumours that I did not do Kuselan because of him! I have never refused working with him,” she clarifies. “I could not do Kuselan because of date problems amongst other things,” she says.
So is it true that the lady has unreasonable remuneration demands? ” If I was asking too high a price, would I be doing four movies today?” she questions.
“I only demand what is justified. If they do not agree, directors should sort it out personally instead of going to the media with their incorrect viewpoints about me. That way, the public has only one side of the picture,” she reasons.
Looking ahead
Today her son Adheep and husband Deepak keep her busy after work and she is happy that she has it all.
“I always did things on my own terms and left at the peak of my career. Marriage was the right thing for me then. Now that I am back, I am fully committed to work. I never do anything half-heartedly. At this stage in my life I am very content with both my home and my career,” she concludes.

Thanks !
